Dear PABI Member,
The Plaquemines Parish Council voted to place a Charter Amendment Proposition on the March 29 ballot which would change the governance of the Plaquemines Port from the parish council to an appointed board of industry experts.
Your PABI board believes this change is vital to the future success of our Port & Parish and has voted to support the proposition. In addition, we have funded an informational campaign encouraging PABI Members and parish voters to Vote YES on the Parishwide Charter Amendment Proposition.
The PABI board is also encouraging our Members and parish voters to Vote YES on Constitutional Amendment No. 2. This would put in place permanent teacher pay raises and lift the severance cap on monies remitted to the Plaquemines Parish Government by the State of Louisiana from mineral production in Plaquemines. This move would change the amount the state pays Plaquemines from $1.2 million annually to approximately $10 million annually. This provides parish government with much needed revenues for infrastructure improvements.
This will be a very low turnout election and every vote counts. Early Voting takes place March 15 to March 22. Please consider early voting at the Belle Chasse Annex Building or the Port Sulphur Government Building and Vote YES on the Charter Change and Constitutional Amendment No. 2.
If you miss Early Voting, please Vote YES on election day, March 29. Please encourage your family and friends to also Vote YES on these measures.
