Crowe, LA Senate District 1 - Senator Crowe will be speaking on the Louisiana International Gulf Transfer Terminal (LIGTT). The Louisiana International Gulf Transfer Terminal Authority was created by ACT 699 of the 2008 regular session of the Louisiana legislature. The 256-acre Louisiana International Gulf Transfer Terminal (LIGTT) port site is located in over 70 feet of water just east of the mouth of the Southwest Pass. It is Louisiana's primary outreach effort to the global marketplace to capture the anticipated increase in container carrying vessels coming through the widened Panama Canal after 2014. It will be the nation's first transfer terminal for container cargo (TEU's) strategically designed to serve container vessels too large to enter in to the Mississippi River thereby preserving market share and enhancing growth of the container market share for the Port of New Orleans. The LIGTT terminal will be the catalyst to encourage the European-Asian "container on barge" strategy throughout the interior of the United States serving ports in 33 states. The Louisiana International Gulf Transfer Terminal will access 33 states via 14,500 miles of waterways for the purpose of transporting commerce. It will be the center of an International Supply Chain that will include a network of ports from Central and South America to the Gulf Region through the Midwest and on into Canada and from ports in Canada to Shanghai. Dear PABI Member,
On behalf of our Chairman, Bart Breland, the PABI Board of Directors, and the PABI Communications Committee, I would like to officially announce the launch of our new and improved WEBSITE! The new website is more user friendly and easier to navigate than its predecessor. We ask that all members view the website and provide us with your feedback. Please note that our quarterly newsletter is available on the website as well as the application for those businesses wishing to join PABI. Also, a list of all members can be found under the members tab. Please review your listing to make sure it is accurate. Let Executive Director, Bobby Thomas, know if any of your info needs to be changed.
I would like to thank Bobby Thomas, and Administrative Assistant, Noelle Williams, for doing the leg work to make this new website possible. Also, I want to thank DP1 DESIGN for designing the website and working with the Communications Committee on changes we requested.
